Description
Have you ever wondered where the ocean came from?
Or what lies at its farthest edge?
And as you gaze up into the vastness of the sky—into the seemingly infinite universe—have you ever asked yourself why Earth is the only known planet that sustains life?
The answer lies in one word: water.
The boundless oceans, the perfectly balanced water cycle, the presence of liquid water—this is what makes life possible. Water is the key to life.
I’ve never been a strong swimmer, so I haven’t had the chance to truly dive into the sea. But even so, the ocean continues to awe me. Through the lens of National Geographic, through breathtaking documentaries on coral reefs, through fossil displays in museums, and even through the sand dollar I once discovered on a shoal during a field trip—I’ve witnessed the beauty and power of the sea.
Truly, it is magnificent.
Every time I see footage of vibrant coral reefs, teeming with color and life—fishes darting, turtles gliding, kelp swaying like underwater forests—I am filled with wonder. But then the lens shifts to show bleached, dying reefs… and my heart aches.
That’s why I created this pair of earrings.
To capture and honor the majesty of the ocean.
The deep, quiet waters.
The bright, sunlit shallows.
The fiery hues of the setting sun.
The vivid life of the coral reefs.
I wanted to hold onto it all, even just a little—through craft.
No one but the Creator truly knows where the oceans came from.
But if you ask me what lies at the end of the sea, I would say:
Life.
